Just received a belated trip review from my wonderful clients Mary and Matt who honeymooned in St. Lucia last year. I thought I would pass it along since so many couples are considering the Sandals resorts on this island, and would be interested in the first-hand feedback:
I’d rate the honeymoon on a scale of 1-10… a 10. Working with Ann throughout the planning process was fantastic. She found out what qualities we’d like in a honeymoon and gave that to us. Sandals had many options for hotel rooms and levels all of which were a bit confusing for us to book on our own. Ann clarified everything for us and led us to the best fit package for us.
We were so thrilled we decided on the Sandals Grande St. Lucia. Originally we had considered La Toc, but with all of the restaurants Grande had to offer, we barely had to venture off to the other properties. The staff was top notch. We can’t say enough of how we were treated. Everyone is fabulous at Sandals, so attentive and caring. The pools were awesome, the beach was great, food and drinks were amazing as well. We would definitely recommend Grande to others.
The room was great in regards to size, bed comforts, and our balcony… One thing we wished we had was a Jacuzzi tub. The shower/bathtub seemed a bit smaller than normal. We were very happy we chose a room that faced the ocean. It was very quiet and private. As far as the view was concerned, we weren’t really able to see Martinique. Aware that the island is 21 miles away, even on the clearest of days, it wouldn’t be possible to see from the balconies on our side of the building due to the row of trees surrounding Sandals’ perimeter… That isn’t to say we didn’t enjoy the balcony and what view we did have- we ate breakfast there most every morning during our stay 🙂
We took a hike around the neighboring park one day, and took advantage of many excursions. St. Lucia is beautiful!
We actually opted out of the helicopter transfer at the last minute. Being that we were tired after our long and exciting week, we took the van back to the airport so we could relax and not feel like we were missing out on more sight seeing.
I’d offer up two bits of advice 1) If you’re able to splurge on the room, do it. That would be our only regret. 2) Take advantage of the all St. Lucia has to offer- go explore and sign up for as many excursions as possible.
