Beth, Bob, Jim & Monica knew they wanted to go to Iceland to experience something magical. They had visited Yellowstone together before and knew that an outdoorsy adventure with a bit of spa, a bit of mountains, and a bit of wonder was just what they were looking for! And we were so happy to plan their week-long getaway in the land of fire and ice. Here’s how it went:
Thanks so much for planning our Iceland Adventure. Everything went smoothly from day one, surely attributable to your excellent planning.
Like Yellowstone? You’ll like Iceland

There was so much about Iceland that was comparable to Yellowstone National Park — geysers, hot springs, fumeroles, mountains, beautiful landscapes, waterfalls.
But….Iceland has the northern lights, and we were so lucky to catch them. Hotel Ranga offers a service similar to wake-up calls where they will call the room and notify guests when the lights appear.
On a clear evening, with a sky filled with stars, we were able to catch this magical moment. It’s probably the first and only time we’ll see them so vividly. It was certainly the highlight of the trip.

Go East

Thank you for suggesting that we extend our vacation from a long weekend in Reykjavik to a week-long visit that included the natural wonders.
The black sand beach with basalt columns was jaw-droppingly beautiful. On our last full day, we went horse-back riding through fields adjacent to mountains and up to a lovely waterfall.
It was cold, but worth it in order to have a much more leisurely look at the vista. I liked Reykjavik but I loved the countryside more.

Blue Lagoon. What a treat it was after the overnight plane ride. It was glorious and so soothing. We stayed until we were pruney!
Overall
No hiccups. All the flights were smooth and on time. The hotels were great and the customer service at both were excellent. I don’t think we had a bad meal during the entire stay — whether at a pricy high-end restaurant, a coffeehouse, hotel restaurants, or pizza joint.
The car rental process and the driving around presented no problems. We lucked out with the weather — mostly sunny during the vacation. On the day we drove the Golden Circle, it was especially warm and sunny (for Iceland).

In short, Iceland was fun to see and explore. Thanks for all of your advice!
